New Delhi: Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he took economic lessons from his predecessor Manmohan Singh on Wednesday when the two met. While addressing the national convention of the Congress's students wing, National Students Union of India, Rahul said, "Our former PM Manmohan Singh criticised the health of the economy in the morning and by evening Modi took "lessons" from him."
Modi met former prime minister Manmohan Singh at 7 Race Course Road on May 27, a day after his government completed one year in office.
Keeping up the ante against the National Democratic Alliance's Land Acquisition Amendment Bill, Rahul once again hit out at the Prime Minister over his foreign trips. Rahul has been spearheading the Congress's fight against the Land Bill both inside and outside Parliament and has been touring different states.
Rahul said, "Modi says we should help poor but he has roamed to US, France, Nepal and even Mongolia, China but he didn't go to a farmer's house."
The Bharatiya Janata party was quick to hit back at Rahul and said his remarks were very immature. BJP spokesperson GVL Narsimha said, "Narendra Modi met Manmohan Singh with great respect and grace, he showed his courtesy. Rahul has lack of maturity in politics. He should not be speculating and make such statements on a former PM meeting a current one. It's a very immature and inexperienced statement."
Very happy to meet Dr. Manmohan Singh ji & welcome him back to 7RCR. We had a great meeting. pic.twitter.com/GlpfqKByoS— Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) May 27, 2015
