New Delhi: Election rallies by big leaders influence the voting preference of electorate the most followed by election manifesto. According to the CNN-IBN and Axis My India Bihar pre-poll survey 21% of the voters decide on whom to choose after an election rally by a big political leader.
The second biggest influence is election manifesto with 19%, TV news channel 18%, social media 16% and local campaigns just 12%.
The survey was carried out between September 23 and October 4, 2015 and was conducted in all the 243 constituencies in 38 districts of the state and the number of respondents was over 24,000. The sample has 87% people from rural areas and 13% from urban centres.
Caste wise distribution of respondents was: Yadavs 14%, Muslims 17%, Kurmi/Koeri 7%, OBC/others 33%, SC/ST 18% and upper castes 11%.
The age groups of respondents is as follows: 18-35 - 50%, 36-50 - 32%, 50 & above 18%.
Bihar will vote in five phases on October 12, 16, 28, November 1 and 5. Counting of votes will take place on November 8 and the entire election process will be over by November 12. The current Assembly expires on November 29.
