Ram Bilas Sharma is currently a Cabinet Minister in BJP?s government of Haryana. He has represented the Mahendragarh constituency as an MLA five times. This election he is contesting against Congress?s Rao Daan Singh. In 32 years, Sharma is the only Brahmin MLA to have won from Mahendergarh which is dominated by Ahir community. In the 2009, Dan Singh of INC won in this seat by defeating the BJP candidate by a margin of 5453 votes which was 4.87% of the total votes polled in the constituency. INC had a vote share of 37.76% in 2009 in the seat.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP got the most votes and the in the 69. Mahendragarh Assembly segment of Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Lok Sabha constituency. Bhiwani-Mahendragarh Parliament seat was won by BJP.
