With campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections winding down ahead of the seventh and final phase on June 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a nearly two-day meditation exercise at the famous Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari on Thursday.
The PM gave a special message to voters from his constituency Varanasi (Kashi), which is set to have polling, asking them to go out and vote in large numbers.

“The voting day for the Lok Sabha elections has arrived. For me, Kashi is a city of devotion, power and detachment,” the Prime Minister said in the video message posted by the Bharatiya Janata Party on social media. “Kashi is the cultural capital of the world, the land of music. Being the representative of this city is possible only with the immense grace of Baba Vishwanath and the blessings of you Kashi residents.”
Prime Minister Modi concluded his election campaign in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur on Thursday for the final phase of the general elections, after canvassing for the BJP across the length and breadth of the country.
“This time’s election for Kashi is an election for the creation of not only Navkashi but also a developed India. The people of Kashi have to set a new record on June 1,” he said in his video message.
PM Modi is seeking a consecutive third term in the Lok Sabha from Varanasi. While the INDIA bloc has fielded Congress’s Uttar Pradesh president Ajay Rai from the seat, the Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has picked Athar Jamal Lari, and three independent candidates are also in the fray.
“Kashi has become the capital of youth welfare and development in the last 10 years,” the PM said, recalling the excitement among young people during his nomination filing. “Now this enthusiasm should be seen at every booth, this is my request.”
