Shiv Sena leader from Punjab, Sandeep Thapar was attacked by four unidentified men on Friday afternoon outside the Ludhiana civil hospital .
As captured on the CCTV camera, Thapar was riding his scooter on the busy road outside the hospital when the attack happened.

The footage shows that the accused followed Thapar on foot as he came out of the hospital with his gunman riding pillion. Soon, the men confronted him and the Shiv Sena leader was seen requesting for mercy with his hands folded as one of the attackers kept hitting him again and again on the head with the sword. Soon, Thapar lost his balance and fell on the road along with his two-wheeler while one of the attackers continued attacking him with a sword.
As the shocking attack occurred under broad daylight, passerby looked on in utter shock. Meanwhile, the first attacker picked up the scooter and drove off with his companion.
As per police sources, quoted by Hindustan Times, his deadly attack took place after the leader left the Samvedna Trust office, an NGO where he went to attend a ceremony to mark the fourth death anniversary of the trust’s founder-president, Ravinder Arora.
People soon took the injured leader to the civil hospital from where was referred to the local Dayanand Medical College and Hospital.
Speaking about the incident, Deputy commissioner of police Jaskiranjit Singh Teja said that a case of attempt to murder has been registered against the unidentified attackers and a probe in on to find them.
Following the incident, Shiv Sena leaders from Punjab gathered outside the civil hospital and raised slogans against the Punjab government and the police. The youth wing president of the Shiv Sena Punjab, Sumit Arora said that Thapar had been provided three gunmen but just a week ago, the police withdrew his security cover. However, later the services of a gunman were restored but as per allegations made my Arora, the gunman allowed the accused to escape easily.
Rajiv Tandon, the chairman of Shiv Sena Punjab told Hindustan Times that the police and the government were not serious about providing security to leaders of Hindu organisations. “They have proved this by withdrawing the security cover of our leaders,” he added.
Meanwhile, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took to his official X account and strongly condemned this ghastly attack. Accusing the state government of lapse in law and order of the state, the BJP leader said, “From Sidhu Moosewala murder to open gang wars to RPG attack in Mohali to free run to radicals – Punjab Police looks helpless thanks to Kejriwal and Mann.”
