Hyderabad: It's been a year since Andhra Pradesh was birfurcated to create to India's newest state Telangana. To celebrate the victory and the formation of the 29th state, the government of Telangana is hosting week long festivities commencing from Monday.
The government is planning to hold events covering all fields from literature to music, in all districts, states, municipalities and municipal corporations for the entire week. "This celebration also aims to help build our brand as a tourism destination and showcase our culture and cuisine," Principal Secretary for Tourism and Culture PB Acharya said.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government is observing 'Nava Nirmana Deeksha' to mark the formation of the new Andhra Pradesh. As per the government's plans, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu would attend the event in Vijayawada, the proposed capital region of the state, state Information Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy told reporters here.
Noting that the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh was done "unilaterally" with liabilities being divided on the basis of population and assets on geographical basis between Telangana and AP, Reddy said the state cabinet decided to seek clarification from Centre on various issues affecting the state.
