Chennai: The seat sharing talks between Congress and DMK for Tamil Nadu Assembly elections remain inconclusive on Friday. Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad met DMK chief M Karunanidhi at his residence in Chennai.
The Congress has given time to DMK to take a decision on seat-sharing and a decision on seat allocation will be taken at a later stage.
"This meeting was only to discuss the election strategies. We are yet to decide on the numbers. This meeting was to talk about the poll plan," said Azad.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party is hunting for allies after actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth chose to join hands with the People's Welfare Front (PWF).
In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had cobbled up a rainbow coalition with the MDMK and PMK. But this time around, while the DMDK and PWF have joined hands, PMK has decided to go solo.
The PMK is keen on having Anbumani Ramadoss as its chief ministerial candidate.
BJP National Executive Member L Ganesan said DMDK and PWF joining hands had brought about a 'clarity' to the state's political situation.
Tamil Nadu will now see a multi-cornered fight. Those battling it out on May 16 will be the ruling AIADMK, the DMK-Congress alliance, People's Welfare Front led by Vijayakanth, Anbumani Ramadoss's PMK and the BJP.
