The Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas is slated to hold a crucial meeting in Ayodhya on Tuesday over the construction of the Ram Temple. Senior Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are also expected to attend the meeting.

VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Pravin Togadia are already in Ayodhya for the meeting, which is being seen as a pressure tactic to speed up the process of building the Ram Temple.

This comes over a week after controversial BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj declared that the Ram Temple at Ayodhya would be built under the BJP-led Central government, which has "four more years to go".

"It is certain that Ram Mandir will be constructed under the BJP rule. If it is not built today, it will be built tomorrow or the day after. We have completed just one year in power, four more years are to go," Sakshi Maharaj had said.

The statement by Sakshi Maharaj had echoed the sentiments of a top VHP leader, who said that Modi government had come to power not only for ushering in development but also to deliver on the core saffron agenda, including building a grand Ram temple.

"The mandate which the BJP got in the last general election was not merely for development. People expect that they will address the core issues too," VHP spokesman and national general secretary Surendra Jain said. The Modi government, he said, should be prepared to "face the consequences" like the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA dispensation if it does not deliver on core issues.
