WB: CPM calls bandh to protest ex-MLA Dilip Sarkar's murder
Meanwhile, the CPM has alleged its party workers are being systematically killed by the "goons of the Trinamool Congress".

Kolkata: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) has called a 12-hour bandh in Asansol to protest the murder of its former MLA Dilip Sarkar. The party also took out rallies in support of the bandh. Rallies were also took out by the Trinamool Congress, which is opposing the strike.

Sarkar was shot dead by four motorcycle borne miscreants near Asansol on Sunday. According to the police, the four miscreants attacked the CPM leader when he out for his morning walk. So far, the police have arrested one person in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, the Left Front chairman Biman Bose has alleged that CPM workers are being systematically killed by the "goons of Trinamool Congress to wipe out Opposition" from West Bengal. "Since 2011 a number of party workers and leaders of CPM have been killed by goons of Trinamool Congress as part of a gameplan to wipe out Opposition from the state," he said.

In the Asansol area of Burdwan district alone, 28 persons had been murdered since 2011 and "the area has become a haven for anti-socials", Bose alleged. "Law and order in the state has gone for a toss. In the backdrop of the panchayat polls such incidents of violence will keep increasing as they are trying to terrorise the masses," Bose said, demanding immediate arrest of Sarkar's killers.
