Will take everyone into confidence: Rajnath on Parliament business
The NDA government to table the bill proposing 49 per cent FDI in insurance sector.

New Delhi: With the Congress and some other parties continuing to oppose the proposed Insurance Bill, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that the government will try its best to "take into confidence" everyone to get the legislation through in Parliament.

"Our attempt will be to take everyone (all parties) into confidence and get all our bills passed in both the Houses of Parliament," Singh said on the sidelines of an event here.

The deadlock continued over the Bill with the Congress and some of its allies opposing the Narendra Modi government's first major economic reform initiative.

As the Opposition stuck to its stand, the government sought their cooperation for passage of the "most progressive reform" at a time when penetration of insurance was very low.

Even the Bhartiya Majdoor Sangh, a RSS-affiliate, had threatened to go on immediate strike along with other unions if the NDA government tables the bill proposing 49 per cent FDI in insurance sector.
