New Delhi: Newly-appointed Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa on Monday said he would follow former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s model for running his government, and not the one adopted by Narendra Modi.
However, walking the tightrope, the Chief Minister added that he would send a delegation led by a minister to Gujarat to study the programmes implemented by the Modi government, and also submit a report to him.
“Development, development and development will be my agenda," he replied on being asked whether his government would follow the Hindutva agenda.
He also underlined that the new BJP government in the state will give "top priority" to allegations of corruption against previous governments.
"I will immediately take up the issue of corruption. I will give top priority (to it). I am not going to tolerate corruption," Yeddyurappa, who assumed charge last week, said.
He, however, added that the new government believes in following the path of cooperation instead of confrontation.
Yeddyurappa also lashed out at JD(S) and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda for their "unethical political activities" and for denying him the opportunity to hold chief ministership for 20 months under a power-sharing agreement.
