Actor Soubin Shahir is currently garnering applause and love for his stellar role in Chidambaram’s Manjummel Boys. Amid the rave review, the actor is all set to reunite with Sudani From Nigeria fame director Zakariya Mohammed for his upcoming project. Zakariya dropped a post on his Instagram handle to announce the much-awaited collaboration, accompanied by a short note. Announcing the collaboration for the yet-to-be-titled project, Zakariya wrote, “Coming together after 6 years: One of the most beloved actor, director duos. Soubin Shahir & Zakariya of ‘Sudani from Nigeria’. Get ready for the next soulful visual treat from these magnificent two.”
Zakariya made his debut as a director with 2018’s Malayalam comedy-drama sports film, Sudani From Nigeria. The film starring Soubin Shahir and Samuel Abiola Robinson in the lead roles was a commercial as well as critical success. The plot of the film navigates the life of a Nigerian football player who joins a club in Malappuram for the sevens football match. The film bagged five awards at the 2018 Kerala State Film Awards and was also honoured with the National Films Award for Best Feature Film in Malayalam.
Soubin, on the other hand, recently saw a massive success in the name of the survival thriller Manjummel Boys. Based on a real-life story, Manjummel Boys recently became the first Malayalam film to collect Rs 200 crore at the box office worldwide. The film’s story displays a group of friends who embarked on a vacation to Kodaikanal. However, the vacation turns out to be a nightmare after one of them unexpectedly falls into a deep pit in the Guna Caves.
As far as Soubin’s upcoming projects are concerned, he is currently shooting for Pravinkoodu Shappu, directed by debutant Sreeraj Sreenivasan. The film, besides Soubin, also stars Basil Joseph, and Chemban Vinod Jose in the lead role. In addition to that, he will also feature in a prominent role in the upcoming Tovino Thomas-starrer Nadikar. It is directed by his Manjummel Boys co-star Jean Paul Lal.
