Prashanth Neel’s action-packed film Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, featuring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, has achieved a significant milestone, crossing the Rs 400 crore mark at the domestic box office. Recently, the makers of the film have locked its digital release. The movie is set to premiere on Netflix on Saturday, January 20.
As part of the Pongal celebrations on Monday, January 15, Netflix India unveiled its Telugu lineup for 2024, featuring the inclusion of Salaar. The film, initially released in theatres on December 22, just ahead of Christmas 2023, is set to make its streaming debut on the platform.
A few days back, Salaar film’s official X handle revealed that the movie is scheduled to be available on Netflix India starting January 20, in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Tamil. The release date for the Hindi version is yet to be disclosed. In 2024, Netflix India’s slate boasts 12 Telugu films including Devara starring Jr NTR, Pushpa 2: The Rule with Allu Arjun and Salaar: Part. Following their theatrical releases, these movies will be out on the streaming platform.
Netflix India has lined up more Telugu titles for the upcoming months with additions like Buddy, Gangs of Godavari, Tillu Square, Vijay Devarakonda’s 12th film, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 109th movie, separate untitled projects featuring Sidhu and Karthikeya, and the ninth production from Ga2 Pictures.
Theatrically released in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi, Salaar: Part 1 has secured an impressive Rs 650 crore at the global box office. Set against the backdrop of the fictional city of Khansaar, the film revolves around the friendship of two protagonists, Deva (Prabhas) and Vardha (Prithviraj). The stellar cast includes Shruti Haasan, Eshwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu and Sriya Reddy.
Netflix has secured the digital rights for Salaar, with the poster unveiling during the Sankranti celebration. Originally, the streaming platform was set to release the film on February 4 after its theatrical debut. But it is now available for streaming within just 30 days of its release.
