Android 15 Beta 1 Version Update Is Here For Pixel Devices: How To Download, What It Offers
Android 15 beta 1 is available for the general public who have a Pixel 6 or higher model and can enroll for the beta program to get started.

We are almost a month away from Google I/O 2024 keynote and the first Android 15 beta update rolls out for Pixel devices. The next Android version is unlikely to see major design and UI changes but we do expect Android 15 to come with new and useful features.

Android has been testing the 15 version with the developer preview for the last few months but now even people like you with an eligible Pixel phone or tablet can download the Android 15 beta 1 version and get a glimpse of what’s in store for Android users later this year.

So, if you have a Pixel phone model 6 or higher, you can enroll for the Android 15 beta program on your device and get the over-the-air (OTA) update to install the beta Android 15 version. If you don’t have a Pixel phone, you will have to install the factory images of the Android 15 beta version to use it on your device.

Android 15 Beta 1 Version: How To Install And Which Phones Supported

Android 15 beta 1 version can be installed on eligible Pixel phones via Settings – System Update – Register for beta program. The phone will then notify you about the Android 15 beta update available for your device. Install the beta version and reboot the device to get Android 15 running on the phone. Make note that the beta 1 versions are generally buggy and unreliable, so it is advised that you don’t install the Android 15 beta 1 version on the primary smartphone.

Here is a list of Pixel devices that let you install Android 15 beta version:

– Google Pixel 6

– Google Pixel 6 Pro

– Google Pixel 6a

– Google Pixel 7

– Google Pixel 7 Pro

– Google Pixel 7a

– Google Pixel Fold

– Google Pixel Tablet

– Google Pixel 8

– Google Pixel 8 Pro

If you are still using the Pixel 4a or any of the Pixel 5 series models, you will not get the Android 15 update, so it is time to upgrade to one of the recent Pixel phones.

Android 15 Beta 1 Versions: New Features You Get

Here are some of the features that Android 15 beta 1 version brings to Pixel devices.

App Archiving For Android Users

Archiving apps can be a useful addition in Android 15 as it allows people to sideline apps without completely removing the data and if they decide to use that app once again with all the data intact, app archiving will easily make that happen for them. You can not only save space on the phone but also reuse it from the same state.

Edge-to-Edge apps

The market caters to a lot of phones with curved displays these days and for them edge-to-edge apps could be a useful addition. Android says the black bar at the top and bottom will give way to a clean and full-screen app interface. Having this feature could also make foldables work more cohesively.

Secure Background Activity

Android 15 is making sure that foreground app activities are not misused by hackers, which becomes possible with remote access to your device. With secure background activity you can track if such actions are commanded on your phone.

Lot more expected

This being the Beta 1 version means people can look forward to many more features coming to Android 15 in the next few weeks. Android plans to release the stable version up and running by July 2024, which should be enough time for the next Pixel lineup in October to get it out of the box.
