All the four variants feature 5.5-inch display but other core specifications vary.

The base Zenfone 2 model (ZE550ML) features a 1280x720 HD display with a 1.8 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage.

The higher versions of the Zenfone 2 bear the model number ZE551ML. The variant that is priced at Rs 14,999 has a 1080p full HD display while much of the other specifications remain similar to the ZE550ML. Another version of the model ZE551ML comes with a 2.3 GHz processor, 4 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM and is priced at Rs 19,999.

The top-end Asus Zenfone 2 carries a price tag of Rs 22,999 and includes more storage (64 GB) than the Rs 19,999 version.

According to Asus, the Zenfone 2 has "the world's best Back Light (HDR) mode and fast charging technology - 60 per cent capacity in only 39 minutes."

With the Zenfone 2, the company also appears to punch above its weight and intends to take on the likes of Apple iPhone 6 and Samsung's recently launhed Galaxy S6, S6 Edge.

The Zenfone 2 was first unveiled at CES 2015.

The phone has a brushed-metal finish and concentric-circle detailing. It has a curved case that tapers to an incredibly thin 3.9 mm at the edges. It comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS+ screen with an ultra-narrow bezel that reduces ZenFone 2's overall size.

According to Asus, its 3000mAh battery provides more than enough power to get through the day, and it also features fast-charge technology for dramatically-reduced recharge times.

Apart from the Zenfone 2, Asus has also launched five accessories for the phone that include a flip cover (Rs 15,99), ZenEar earphones (Rs 599), ZenPower power bank (Rs 1,499), Lolliflash (Rs 799) and ZenFlash (Rs 1,599).
