Is Apple planning an iPod comeback?
The new iPod models are expected to retain the same 4-inch screen size, but will have a boosted storage capacity, along with a better camera lens than the predecessors.

New Delhi: Apple's iconic iPod seemed to breathe its last after the coming of the ubiquitous and all-inclusive iPhone. However, the tech giant is now speculated to revive its portable digital music player this year.

The iPod Touch has not received any major update since the end of 2012 and the iPod Classic was discontinued in September last year, upsetting those who loved the revolutionary device with an intuitive click wheel.

A Digital Trends report says that the new iPod models are expected to retain the same 4-inch screen size, but will have a boosted storage capacity. It is also rumoured that the next iPod Touch will have a better camera lens than the predecessors.

One reason for Apple to revive its iPods range could be the arrival of an iTunes streaming music service that is highly anticipated but not officially unveiled.

It remains to be seen whether the next iPod, if Apple is seriously considering its revival, will be as much a hit as its first version that completely changed how people listened to music on-the-go.
