Mark 1: Creo Unveils Its First Phone at Rs 19,999; Focuses More on Android-based Fuel OS than Hardware
The Creo Mark 1 is powered by a 1.95 GHz octa-core processor with 3 GB of RAM and comes with 32 GB of on-board space that is expandable up to 128 GB.

At a time when the smartphone battle is raging on with ever-increasing arsenal of hardware specs on every side, Creo, an Indian startup, is aiming to fight the battle with software at the frontline.

The Creo Mark 1 was launched at an event in New Delhi by Creo CEO Sai Srinivas and will be available at a price of Rs 19,999.

At the core of the Mark 1, according to the company, is its Fuel OS - a custom Android skin - that will receive monthly upgrades driven by features suggested by Creo's user community. The company is positioning the Mark 1 as a "new phone, every month," with a host of features in its Fuel OS.

On the hardware front, the Mark 1 is powered by a 1.95 GHz octa-core processor with 3 GB of RAM and comes with 32 GB of on-board space that is expandable up to 128 GB. The display is a QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) at 534 PPI. The rear camera is a 21 megapixel from Sony and at the front is an 8 megapixel shooter. The phone draws its juice from a 3100 mAh battery that supports fast charging.

Being new to the race, Creo is also boasting of its service network. According to the company there will be 106 support centres across 96 cities to begin with with pick and drop service in top 15 cities. Creo expects to reach 300 support centres in the coming months.

At the launch event Creo also showed off the built-in security features in the phone. The Retriever anti-theft feature in the Mark 1 isn't internet dependent and can email alerts when a new SIM is inserted. The Retriever feature would work even if a stolen phone is factory reset.

Future upgrades on the Fire OS, expected to be rolled out by May 13, will include a photo editor, selfie screen flash and auto background data manager.

Owners can also get customised messages engraved on their phones and engraving will be completely free for the first 2000 customers

The phone will be available online via Flipkart and the company's website creosense.com.
