New Balance to produce only 44 pairs of its first 3D-printed sneakers
The very limited edition shoes boast a 3D-printed midsole and will cost $400 a pair when they go on sale on Friday April 15 via the company's website or direct from its flagship Boston store.

New Balance Zante Generate Running Shoes will be available from Friday but only the sportiest of sneaker fans should apply.

That's because prospective owners are going to need to be very fast indeed if they want to get a pair. Only 44 pairs are being made - one for every year since current chairman Jim Davis bought the company.

"New Balance is at the forefront of 3D printing and has been utilizing this exciting and innovative technology to customize product for our athletes for a number of years," said New Balance President and CEO Robert DeMartini. "The Zante Generate demonstrates the strength of New Balance design and innovation and will allow consumers to own a piece of running technology history."

The very limited edition shoes boast a 3D-printed midsole and will cost $400 a pair when they go on sale at 09.00 EST, Friday April 15 via the company's website or direct from its flagship Boston store.
