San Francisco: The world's largest social network has officially denied reports that it is planning a Spotify competitor.
Facebook is indeed examining a myriad ways in which it can offer an even more compelling service and therefore keep its growing user base on its network for the longest amount of time possible.
It has split its services into individual apps, and is currently looking to offer news and video services, particularly around music.
However, despite rumours, none of these moves are a stepping-stone towards creating an Apple Music or Tidal clone.
In a statement to Billboard on Thursday, following widespread coverage of a report from Music Ally saying a streaming service was imminent, Facebook simply said it has "No plans to go into music streaming."
