The start of 2024 is going to be with a bang for smartphone brands as multiple launches have been lined up in the early part of the new year, which is bound to get people excited. When you have brands like OnePlus, Samsung and Xiaomi planning things, people would feel the need to sit up and notice, after all, they could be getting a nice upgrade on their current phones. So, if you’re in the market for a new phone, we suggest you wait it out as the big guns showcase their new shiny launches in January 2024:
Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Series
Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 series is launching in India on January 4, 2024 and the company has confirmed the models that will be available in the market.
Redmi Note 13 models sport an AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate screen. The phones use a mix of Qualcomm and MediaTek Dimensity 5G chipsets, with up to 12GB RAM. It seems Xiaomi will offer the phones with the Android 13-based MIUI 14 version out of the box, which will be disappointing.
The biggest difference will be in the cameras, where the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ model highlights with a 200MP primary rear camera. The other two phones could feature a 100MP main rear camera. In addition to this, the Pro+ model could have a 5000mAh battery with support for 120W charging speed out of the box.
Vivo X100 Series
Vivo X100 series India launch is also confirmed for January 4, 2024. Vivo is hosting a virtual event for the launch of its new phones on Thursday next week, where we will get a closer look at the phones and their expected price tags.
The Vivo X100 and X100 Pro sport a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED display, boasting a 1.5K resolution with 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, both models are powered by MediaTek’s latest flagship Dimensity 9300 chipset, offering configurations with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. Indian users will get the Funtouch OS version.
The big difference between the X100 and X100 Pro is the additional camera on the latter, and support for wireless charging as well. The X100 is backed by a large 5000mAh battery with support for 120W fast charging. Whereas, the Pro model gets a 5400mAh battery with 100W wired fast and 50W wireless charging.
Samsung Galaxy S24
Samsung’s big-ticket launch for 2024 will be the new Galaxy S24 series which will have the vanilla, plus and the Ultra variant. The new phones are expected to launch in South Korea next month, where the company could talk about its rumoured AI-powered devices and what it has in store for the new iPhone rival in the market. The new Samsung devices should be using the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and other hardware upgrades.
In terms of optics, the device might feature quad rear cameras, including a 200MP main camera, a 50MP telephoto shooter, a 12MP sensor, and another 10MP sensor. The device is also said to come with a 12MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Coming to the battery, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is also expected to come with a massive 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging support.
OnePlus 12
OnePlus has also confirmed its big launch for January 2024. OnePlus 12 made its debut in China and now the new phones are ready for their global bow. The brand is going to bring the OnePlus 12 and 12R models for other countries, including India. OnePlus 12 India launch date is the same day January 23, 2024 as the global unveiling from the company.
As for the OnePlus 12 price in India, we expect the company to start the base model at around Rs 60,000 going higher than Rs 70,000 for the top variant. The successor to the OnePlus 11 comes with a 6.82 inches 2K Super Fluid AMOLED display with LTPO panel that promises a peak brightness of 4500 nits.
The phone uses the new-gen Qualcomm chipset with up to 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. Coming to the imaging strength, the OnePlus 12 features a triple rear camera setup that consists of a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a 64MP telephoto lens and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle sensor.
