Xiaomi Mi 8 is Now Official; To Launch on May 31
Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch date of its upcoming flagship, Mi 8.

Xiaomi Mi 8 has been officially confirmed to be the next Mi-series flagship smartphone by Xiaomi. After much speculations about the smartphone and its name, to be Mi 7 or Mi 8, the company will be skipping the Mi 7 altogether and will directly launch the Mi 8 in the series, citing its 8 year anniversary this year. Xiaomi has announced a May 31 launch date for the Mi 8 through a recent post on Weibo and is supposedly working on its own 3D facial scanning technology.

As can be seen in the post on Weibo by Xiaomi, the company will be unveiling its Mi 8 smartphone at a launch event in Shenzhen, China. The launch is also confirmed through a separate tweet by the company's spokesperson Donovan Sung, with the tweet reading "To celebrate our 8th year anniversary, we'll be launching Mi 8 at our annual flagship product launch in Shenzhen on May 31."

The device was earlier spotted in a leaked video online and could be seen with an in-display fingerprint sensor, just like the one found on Vivo X21.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Expected Specifications

As per reports till date, Xiaomi's Mi 8 is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 845 SoC and to carry an 8GB RAM and 256GB inbuilt storage. As could be seen in the leaked video, the smartphone will sport an in-display fingerprint sensor. It is expected to run Android 8.0 Oreo with Xiaomi's own MIUI on top. It might also come with an iPhone X like notch display.
