YouTube Will Soon Have Its Own Sleep Timer For Videos: Know More
YouTube continues with its focus on new helpful features and bringing a sleep timer for videos could become popular among many.

YouTube has been the undisputed hub for content creation. The app frequently releases new features to enhance the user experience. And yet again, it is developing a new feature called the sleep timer feature for its Android app. This latest feature was discovered during an APK teardown of a beta version of the video-streaming platform for Android version 19.25.33. It includes strings to start, reset, and set the duration of a sleep timer.

As per a report by Android Authority in collaboration with tipster AssembleDebug, the sleep timer feature would reportedly let users set a sleep timer, allowing them to set the duration for video playback before it automatically turns off. This development comes just days after the YouTube app announced that it would soon introduce an easy-to-understand context that will let users to add notes below videos.

The media outlet further mentioned that the feature lets users specify the hours and minutes until video playback stops. This new feature may show up as a notification, and one of the possible dialogue options supposedly reads, “You can reset the timer or click done to keep watching.”

Sleep timers are a useful feature for ending playback in media apps after a certain period of time has passed. This feature ensures that the songs or videos don’t continue to play too long after someone has fallen asleep. This feature is common in music apps, however, it has its roots in video, as sleep timers are a common function on TV sets.

Earlier we had mentioned that the video-streaming platform is testing a new method to disrupt ad blockers by injecting server-side ads. Presently, the ads are shown on top of the video player at certain time stamps, which ad blockers take advantage of.

However, YouTube is speculated to merge ads with this change, making the video a continuous stream instead of two separate elements.

It is worth noting that this feature is already available on the YouTube Music app, the platform’s music streaming app, but it’s long been missing in the video app. It is available in the ‘Now Playing’ menu at the bottom. Once switched on, the playback automatically stops after the proposed time.
