Delhi residents are battling with a brutal heatwave and water crisis. From mercury staying above 40 degrees to tap water reaching the boiling temperature, the weather is showing no sign of mercy. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a red alert in North India. Now, people, in the national capital, have voiced their struggles on social media. As per a section of users, the conditions are unbearable. Some have compared the national capital to a gas chamber.
A person said, “Delhi NCR has become really unlivable in the last few years. Pollution ( AQI > 400), winters too cold, summers too hot (45 is average these days),water logging in rainy months. People who can afford it might prefer moving out in the next few years if it stays the same.”

I've lived in Delhi all my life, experiencing many summers, but this year even a 15-minute walk outside is daunting. It's 41 degrees at 10 pm, with relentless heat throughout the day. Those of us lucky to have AC struggle; imagine the city's poor who must live and work outdoors.— Puneet Siinghal (@puneetsinghal22) June 18, 2024
A few said that they “don’t remember an unrelenting heat wave like this for the longest time.”
Delhi temp 44-45°C for weeks now. Don't remember an unrelenting heat wave like this for the longest time. Leaves roasted to a crisp. Flora & fauna singed when not parched. Let's hope rain's around the corner & in the meanwhile let's do what we can for others. Stay cool ! pic.twitter.com/QXju41rqJT— Siddhartha Basu (@babubasu) June 17, 2024

Reacting to the weather conditions, a doctor told TOI, “Please do report early as time is of essence in heat stroke management. Heatstroke in the most severe form causes confusion, high body temperature, rapid pulse and potential unconsciousness. Without prompt treatment, involving rapid cooling and hydration, heatstroke can be life-threatening.”
