Holding an electronic tablet in his hands, Amitabh Bachchan read out the lyrics of Work. Not exactly singing, he simply recited the lines in order and stopped abruptly when the verse, “He see me do me dirt, dirt, dirt” came on the screen.

There remains no doubt that Amitabh Bachchan is a prolific actor in his own right. In his career spanning decades, the veteran Bollywood superstar has delivered several noteworthy movies that are enjoyed by the masses even today. Besides his acting prowess, the 81-year-old also harbours the hobby of writing poetry. A music lover, he has often lent his voice to Hindi songs like Ekla Cholo Re and Bol Bachchan. But when a viral video of Amitabh Bachchan reciting international pop icon Rihanna’s popular track Work surfaced on the internet, it surely came as a surprise for many fans.

The video was dropped on X (formerly Twitter) by a user on March 3 and soon arrested the attention of the online community. “I didn’t know a video of Amit Ji singing Rihanna’s song ‘Work Work’ existed till now,” read the note accompanying the post. The clip begins with Rihanna performing her 2016 hit song Work at a concert. The frame changes quickly, with Amitabh Bachchan appearing on the screen at an interview session with Scoop Whoop.

Holding an electronic tablet in his hands, Big B was seen reading out the lyrics of Work. Not exactly singing, Amitabh Bachchan simply recited the lines in order and stopped abruptly when the verse, “He see me do me dirt, dirt, dirt” came on the screen.

Social media users were left in splits as they stumbled upon the never-before-seen footage of Amitabh Bachchan. Many pointed out that the superstar was taken aback by Work’s intense lyrics. “(Amitabh Bachchan) Looks traumatised,” commented one person. Noting the line before which Bachchan stopped singing, another individual highlighted, “He see me do me? Amit ji was so confused.” “The Amitabh ji version would lift my mood than the Rihanna one,” wrote a third Amitabh Bachchan fan. Others dropped several laughing emojis.

Earlier, Amitabh Bachchan shared a video on X where a woman was singing Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You cover with a ukulele. The recreated track was a mix of Western pop with a regional touch.

“You are a very special talent, God bless you. Keep up the good work. You have brightened my day… Simply amazing, “ wrote Amitabh Bachchan.
