Indian street food has gained immense popularity worldwide. From spicy fried snacks to sweet and cool desserts, there’s an array of mouthwatering dishes to try. Tourists visiting India are often spotted exploring local street food. Speaking of which, recently a visitor from Thailand decided to go on a food trail in Delhi and try the popular “fire paan.” He shared his reaction to this trendy dish in his video.
In the clip, Martin Bravo Santiago, an actor from Thailand, is seen approaching a vendor. He begins by asking the seller about paan price before trying it. It appears that he is immersing himself in Indian culture and exploration. Martin seems enthusiastic about trying the fire paan. Welcomed by the street vendor, Martin learns about the fire paan priced at Rs 100 and its ingredients which include gulkand, papaya chunks, sugar and dried fruit.
A few seconds into the video, the vendor lights the pan on fire and assures Martin that it is safe, as he looks confused. Next, the vendor casually picks up the pan and asks him to open his mouth. The tourist was then seen eating the pan, assisted by the vendor. He eats it and gives it a thumbs up.
His fire paan video garnered thousands of views on social media
One user said, “You are very brave,” while another jokingly asked, “Could you breathe fire after that.”
Many people sarcastically stated, “Welcome to India..I’m sure that you’re not a beginner.” A user pointed out how concerned he looked, “Martin you look concerned when he lights the sugar.”
One person suggested he should “try Delhi’s famous street food you may be amazed.”
While one user wrote, “Still to understand the concept of fire paan.”
An individual concerned about hygiene said, “It’s not the fire people need to worry about. The fact is that the food was handled by guys on the street without gloves. After having fondled every part of the food they shove it into your mouth.”
