Delhi's Popular Vada Pav Woman Loses Calm At Customers But Internet Is Supporting Her
Chandrika, who is from Indore, started her Vada Pav stall after working at Haldiram's for four years.

Chandrika Gera Dixit, popularly known as Delhi’s Vada Pav girl, is getting much attention from the customers after videos featuring her entrepreneurial spirit went viral. With immense fame comes its own share of problems. Now, a video that shows Dixit reprimanding some customers for breaking the queue is creating a buzz. In the clip, she is heard asking the customers to stick to the two lines, and not make a third line that disrupts the flow of work. At some point, Dixit says that she will not serve those who do not maintain the line. Dixit appears overwhelmed by the crowd with people shoving their money at her to get the famous Vada Pavs.

An X (Formerly Twitter) user shared this clip on X and wrote, “Rs 50 ka ek vadapav bech rhi hai aur uparse itna attitude log bhi pagal hai (She is selling one Vada Pav for Rs 50 and then showing attitude, even people are fools.) This post was shared on April 1. Many online users justified Dixit’s frustration and argued that people lack civic sense. An X user commented, “If you look at the flipside, it’s appreciated that she is managing the queue at her shop, we already know how Indian crowds get & nobody follows the queue patiently. Imagine a senior citizen, lady or child silently waiting for their turn in the queue while pushed behind by men. Kudos to her rather.”

Another wrote, “She is 100% right. There are two queues, and that’s how it is. Making any extra queue is not acceptable.”

On March 11, a video of Dixit went viral in which she was on a call and complaining about pressure from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi officials who asked her to remove her food stall. She also claimed that the officials were demanding money even after she paid them between Rs 30,000-35,000.

Dixit, who is from Indore, started her Vada Pav stall after working at Haldirams for four years. She moved to Delhi to seek a better livelihood opportunity. She is supported by her husband and her mother-in-law in running the lucrative Vada Pav food stall, which is set up near Keshav Mahavidyalaya in Pitampura. In a short time, Dixit has amassed over two lakh followers on Instagram and one lakh subscribers on YouTube.
