‘Didn’t Know Who He Was’: Nagpur's Famous Dolly Chaiwala On Meeting Bill Gates At His Tea Stall

One of the most unexpected collaborations between Nagpur’s famous Dolly Chaiwala and Microsoft founder Bill Gates gained attention on social media since billionare shared the video of enjoying a cup of tea at the former’s shop. 

Dolly Chaiwala is currently an internet sensation, especially after he was appreciated by the Microsoft founder for his unique chai-selling style.

While talking to the media after his new-found success, Dolly said that he was not aware at all about who Bill Gates was and thought that he was a guy from a foreign country to whom he should serve tea.

He further said, “The next day when I came back to Nagpur then I came across ‘Maine kisko chai pilaya.’ He (Bill Gates) said ‘Wow, Dolly ki Chai.’ We did not speak at all, he was standing just beside me and I was busy with my work. I watch South movies and from them, I have learned the styles.”

“Today, I feel that I have become ‘Nagpur ka Dolly chai wala.’ In future, I wish to serve tea to Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he added.

Who is Dolly Chaiwala?

According to PTI, Dolly Chaiwala owns a roadside tea stall near the old VCA stadium in Nagpur’s Sadar area. The report further reveals that the tea vendor’s real name is not known, yet he is widely recognized as Dolly Chaiwala on social media. His demeanour, actions, and stylish way of serving tea have earned him the nickname desi Johnny Depp.

In fact, Dolly Chaiwala is known for his unique and stylish approach to serving tea, which has garnered him much admiration. Besides serving tea, his tea setup and other paraphernalia are equally impressive. He keeps cigarettes in tea glasses, while his other belongings are neatly arranged in various containers. His kadak chai is highly praised for its flavour, and his tea stall is always bustling with tea enthusiasts.

In the video, Mr. Gates is seen engaging with Dolly Chaiwala, a celebrated tea vendor known for his presence on social media, all while enjoying a cup of chai expertly brewed by him.

This unexpected rendezvous sent left netizens in a state of disbelief and amusement. In a world where entrepreneurs and businessmen vie for the chance to meet Bill Gates and strike lucrative deals, it was a simple Chaiwala who stole the spotlight, prompting what many are calling “The most unexpected collab ever.

Beyond this, he expressed his delight in meeting innovators in the country, including Dolly Chaiwala, whom he hailed as an innovator in the art of tea-making.
