The report states that these ants are spotted after the rains when the weather improves. It can be spotted buzzing around light sources like bulbs during the night.

However, locals of some of these regions believe that the appearance of these ants means that the end is near. It means that when wings on ants can be spotted, the end times are near. The wings on the ants indicate a significant phase of life is about to come to an end, going by the local beliefs. Local 18 states further that such beliefs can be attributed to grandmother’s stories and old beliefs.

But if we see it from the perspective of science, the flying ants phenomenon is just related to natural causes. After heavy rains, the ants come out of their shelters with wings to breed. The wings are an essential limb, which help the insects in the reproduction process and settle in new regions. Winged ants buzzing about light sources mean that they are looking for a new place to settle. In rural regions, the emergence of flying ants also signifies change and transformation of life.
