The Kalyan police has taken action against a youth for performing stunts on the bonnet of a BMW, purportedly driven by a 17-year-old. The Times of India (TOI) reported that the 21-year-old on the bonnet, named Subham Mitalia, was taken into custody right away. Meanwhile, the teenager and his father were also placed under arrest after the event became public on Saturday afternoon following the circulation of a viral video.
The young man is seen on the bonnet while the teenager, who does not yet have a driver’s licence, drives the BMW through the crowded Shivaji Chowk neighbourhood in Kalyan West. The risky stunt was witnessed by onlookers, some of whom recorded it with their phones.
The teenager’s father, a retired government official, was given a notice by the police after being arrested for letting his minor son drive.
The boy convinced his father to purchase the used BMW, which cost about Rs 5 lakh, after being influenced by social media videos, police told TOI.
According to reports, the father is the vehicle’s registered owner.
Senior Inspector Suresh Gaud of the Bazarpeth police station said that they found the car, the youth who was on the bonnet and the driver shortly after the video went viral.
This coincides with the continuing controversy surrounding the young person from Pune who, while intoxicated, smashed a Porsche into two 24-year-old techies.
After the deceased’s friend filed a formal complaint, the incident eventually became public.
The Porsche, which was reportedly being driven by a child, collided with the victims’ motorbike at an approximate speed of 160 km/h, according to CCTV evidence.
