'Lost Trust in Air India': Woman Gets Chicken Pieces in Veg Meal Ordered on Flight, Airline Responds
A woman recently expressed her disappointment with Air India after she was served a veg meal with 'chicken' pieces in it. Check viral post.

A woman recently expressed her dissatisfaction with Air India when she discovered chicken pieces in the vegetarian meal she had ordered during a flight. Taking to social media, Veera Jain shared the details of her experience on the Calicut to Mumbai flight. The flight, initially scheduled for departure at 6:40 p.m., faced an hour-long delay, eventually taking off at 7:40 p.m. Despite the delayed departure, the bigger concern arose when she was served a veg meal containing chicken.

Sharing her frustration, Ms. Jain wrote, “On my @airindia flight AI582, I was served a veg meal with chicken pieces in it! I boarded the flight from Calicut airport. This was a flight that was supposed to take off at 18:40 PM but left the airport at 19:40 PM.” She attached pictures illustrating chicken pieces in a spoonful of rice from the allegedly vegetarian meal. Another image displayed the meal packet clearly labeled as a “veg meal” despite containing chicken.

She even informed the cabin supervisor, Sona, who apologised and acknowledged that multiple passengers had complained about the same issue. However, Jain pointed out that no action was taken to inform other passengers with vegetarian meals.

However, her problems extended beyond the meal mishap, as the delayed flight jeopardised her friend’s connecting train to Ahmedabad. Frustrated by the missed connection and the chicken in her supposedly vegetarian meal, Jain vented it out on social media, tagging regulatory bodies like DGCA and Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, demanding accountability and action.

In response to the complaint, Air India commented, “Dear Ms. Jain, we request you delete the asked details from the open tweet (to avoid misuse) and share the same with us via DM along with your PNR.”

Soon, the incident gained traction on social media, leading to widespread criticism of Air India’s service.

Meanwhile, in one such food-related incident last year, renowned Indian chef Sanjeev Kapoor expressed dissatisfaction with Air India after an in-flight meal on his Nagpur-Mumbai flight. Kapoor’s post included an image of cold chicken tikka served with watermelon, cucumber, tomato, and sev, along with the comment, “Is this what Indians should eat for breakfast?” He criticised the airline on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), highlighting his disappointment with the representation of Indian cuisine served for breakfast.
