Bengaluru, noted for its soothing weather due to its height of more than 3,000 feet above sea level, has recently become the subject of a humourous social media debate. Anurag Das, a man from Kolkata who visited India’s Silicon Valley, tweeted about the stark contrast in temperature. Das, who is used to the hot and humid weather of the city of joy, was pleasantly surprised when he stepped out of Bengaluru International Airport on July 14.
“Stepping out of Bengaluru Airport, the air outside is almost as pleasant as AC. In July,” Anurag Das wrote. “Compare it with the open-air sauna that is in Kolkata, which leaves you drenched in sweat in minutes. I am now willing to do a PhD. in Kannada if it means I can stay here forever,” he added in his post.

Anurag Das posted this tweet only three days ago, and it has now received over 89,000 views and countless comments. Many social media users praised him for being eager to learn the local language to settle in the city. However, some recommended him to think about other elements of Bengaluru before deciding to relocate based purely on the weather.
A user welcomed him, stating, “Welcome to Bengaluru… Your intent to learn Kannada is enough.”

Another said, “These kinds of people who are open to assimilate are the ones who deserve to get domicile in Bangalore. Interact with locals and natives in the old Bangalore region to fully get the real Bangalore vibe.”

However, not everyone came to an agreement. “The same you will crib about the same BLR once u realise it takes 30 mins to finish 1.5 km! One rain and our roads are lakes! If the weather is the criterion why not shift to some hill station? BLR is already crowded and we locals encourage people to move out!” commented a user.

“Try driving around, even in a cab 4 days a week. Calcutta will seem like heaven,” another person remarked.

“First live for just 1 year in Bangalore & after one year if you still feel the same way about the city then you can think about staying there forever,” an user noted.
First live for just 1 year in bangalore & after one year if you still feel the same way about the city then you can think about staying there forever. Bangalore has pleasant weather throughout the year but do you want to make a "staying forever" decision only based on weather?

Meanwhile, the debate continues with a focus on Bengaluru’s attraction as well as the practicalities of city life.
