Sony Unveils Wearable Cooling Device To Beat The Heat
Sony recently introduced the Reon Pocket 5, a wearable device designed to combat the heat and provide comfort on the go.

As temperatures rise this summer, battling the heatwave has become a top priority for many. While air conditioners (AC) have become a necessity, many fear about the spike in bill amount. To acknowledge the issue, Sony has stepped in with an innovative solution. The company recently introduced the Reon Pocket 5, a wearable device designed to combat the heat and provide comfort on the go. This compact device, which fits neatly into the back of a shirt or t-shirt, offers adjustable cooling levels to keep users feeling refreshed even during the hottest weather. The device can also be used during the winter, making it a year round companion. It comes with advanced technology, including five cooling levels and four warming levels. Plus, with the support of its remote sensor called Reon Pocket tag, it intelligently adjusts the settings based on the temperature.

The upcoming fifth generation model of remote air conditioner will soon launch in several countries including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. As per Tech Radar, the technology isn’t new, as the first device was launched in Japan in 2019. The 4th version was sold out within three months and similar response was experienced in Hong Kong too. Interestingly, the Reon Pocket 5 will be the first device to be sold outside Asian nations.

In the press release, Sony stated, “REON POCKET 5 features an enlarged thermo-module and newly structured heat dissipation fan which offers improved cooling efficiency and airflow, resulting in up to 1.5 times higher cooling performance compared to the conventional model. Featuring 5 COOL Levels, the device delivers powerful cooling and runs for up to 1.8 times longer, for approximately 7.5 hours at COOL Level 4. In addition, the latest device functions quietly by reducing operating noise, making it convenient to use even in quiet business environments.”

“To improve the cooling function of the REON POCKET 5, the REON POCKET TAG is equipped with the latest software that detects direct sunlight, which enables RNPK–5T to quickly adjust to preset temperatures at 33% faster as compared to previous versions of the software. Featuring 8 sensors, the REON POCKET 5 and REON POCKET TAG deliver the most accurate temperature control and can be used for up to 10 hours,” the company added.

The device is currently available for pre-order at £139 (approximately Rs 14,000), with the option to add a beige coloured neckband for an additional £25 (approximately Rs 2,616). Shipping is set to begin on May 15 and each package includes the device, a Pocket Tag and a white neckband.
