A maid of honour was unable to attend her best friend’s wedding due to childbirth, but she still managed to deliver an emotional speech that touched the bride and many others. Using FaceTime, she connected with the wedding and shared her heartfelt words, mixing humour and sentiment. The touching moment was captured and shared on Instagram by Woodell Productions. In the video, Ally, the maid of honour, is seen delivering her speech over the phone, surprising the couple with her presence while the bride, Michelle, her best friend is visibly teary.
Ally began her speech by addressing her absence, saying that childbirth wouldn’t stop her from giving the maid of honour speech. She then went on to remember her favorite memories with the bride, highlighting their deep bond and shared experiences.
“You didn’t think a little bit of childbirth was going to keep me from giving the maid of honor speech at my best friend’s wedding, did you?” Ally began her speech.
“I’ve written about five openers for this speech and well, I’ve decided I’d let you in on one of my most favorite memories with the bride. There were endless memories to choose from. We would be here all night if I wrote about them all. Seriously, you would laugh. And cry. And then probably laugh until you cry,” she continued.
Ally recalled the moments they shared saying, “Everything we’ve been through together — all those dead salamanders, the house fire, the boyfriends, the breakups, just growing up.”
“I remember being so truly grateful for your friendship,” Ally said as an emotional Michelle was held by her new husband.
“I’m pretty sure this means we all have to live together now. I’ll be bringing a baby, so I hope that’s okay,” she said, prompting laughter from the bride, groom, and everyone else around.
The speech concluded with Ally expressing her appreciation for Michelle and toasting the newlyweds, describing them as perfect for each other.
