Toilet-themed Entrances To Faeces-shaped Treats: This Is Japan’s Wildest Museum
Inside the museum, there are marshmallows, candies, cakes and cupcakes shaped like faeces, as well as a faeces-themed light show and games.

We are all familiar with the Museum of History and the Museum of Art, and some of us may even be aware of other museums that focus on unusual subjects. However, Japan has broken all conventions by dedicating an entire museum after faeces. Now, if you think you envisioned it incorrectly, you are mistaken because it is precisely as you imagined when you read it. This unusual museum has now captured the attention of the internet, prompting a wide range of viewpoints.

The video was shared on Instagram by a Japanese travel page. It shows a vlogger giving a tour of a unique museum. The video starts with a toilet seat cover-themed entrance. Inside, there are marshmallows, candies, cakes, and cupcakes shaped like faeces, as well as a faeces-themed light show and games. The museum is decorated with colourful and pastel faeces-shaped decor.

The video accumulated over 8 million views on the social media platform. The comments section, as we would expect, was full of humour and astonishment. Well, it seems like everyone in the comments section has a collective case of ‘why-itis.’

A user wrote, “Okay but why?”

Another user humorously stated, “People: ‘Japan is future’. Japan:”

“I don’t know why but I really want to go there,” said another user.

The museum is called the Unko Museum, which translates to Faeces Museum. It is situated on Tokyo’s Odaiba Island. As per GaijinPot Travel, in March 2019, a temporary pop-up gallery dedicated to all things faeces in Yokohama gained global attention. After six months of immense popularity, the team behind this unique destination opened a permanent location in Tokyo. The museum adds to the list of many highly Instagrammable spots in Odaiba, Tokyo’s trendy entertainment neighbourhood.

The museum’s installations, displays, and immersive attractions – all revolve around the theme ‘Max Unko Kawaii’, which means ‘the maximum cuteness of faeces’.

According to a Unko Museum spokesman who spoke with CNN Travel in 2019, this is the first time in history that faeces have been shown as entertainment instead of merely as a museum exhibit. As per the news portal, the museum saw close to 10,000 visitors in only its first week of operation.
