This year’s Lok Sabha Elections are scheduled to take place from April 19. The political parties actively campaign through rallies and social media to propagate their manifestos among the Indian citizens. Amid this, the commission is highlighting the importance of the participation of citizens in the upcoming elections to gain a higher voter turnout. Recently, a similar attempt was made in Bikaner, Rajasthan, where awareness about the importance of voting was spread through a food festival. Baba Ramdev also attended the food carnival and asked people to vote for their favourite political party. The food items were served with a message of ‘must vote’ at the food carnival.
The Sveep Food Carnival was organised at Masala Chowk, Bikaner. The size of each food item was massive. The visitors were served the samosa, which weighed 8 kg. Apart from this, there were also five kilos of pizza. The 25 kg of bread became the highlight of the food carnival.
Additionally, there were 20 kg burgers, a 4 kg hot dog and a 30-inch papad that attracted food lovers’ attention. The bizarre size of these items was done with the motive to make people aware of their voting rights and the importance of the same in the upcoming elections. People liked the message of ‘must vote’ on 42 kg ghevar.
To make people aware, a message was also given through sweets. The tricolour was made from 31 kilos of Bengali sweets and messages related to voting were written on it. Not only this, one and a half feet long Jalebi was also served in this carnival. Many types of cultural programs were also organised here in addition to the food festival.
The visitors pledged to vote in the upcoming elections, while feasting on these food delights.
The awareness campaigns for the high vote count in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 are taking place in several cities across the cities. While Bikaner organised a food festival, the electoral officer at Sivakasi city of Virudhunagar district has installed a Photo Point to emphasise 100 percent voter turnout in Lok Sabha General Election 2024. The Collector and District Electoral Officer of Virudhunagar district VP Jayaseelan also interacted with the first-time voters and youngsters to discuss the importance of casting votes.
