The Maldivian election commission on Saturday said ballot boxes for the upcoming parliamentary election will be stationed in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram, according to a report by Maldivian news outlet The Sun.
Ballot boxes will also be stationed in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo and in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.
The secretary general of the Maldivian poll body said that sufficient voters re-registered for ballot boxes in three foreign countries. “During the re-registration window, voters had re-registered sufficiently warranting ballot boxes in three countries, which are Trivandrum, India, Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,” Hassan was quoted as saying by The Sun.
The polling body said ballot boxes will not be placed in other foreign countries. He said sufficient voters from other foreign nations did not register themselves during the re-registration window which expired on Saturday.
The parliamentary election will be held on April 21.
