A lot is on the table during the visit with the Prime Minister holding an Indian community event on September 22, attending the ‘Summit of the Future’ on September 23 and addressing the United Nations General Assembly tentatively on the same day. Many bilateral meetings of the Prime Minister with world leaders are also expected on the sidelines of the UNGA.
PM Modi could be in the US between September 20 and 26, and the final schedule is still to be finalised.
India is also trying to schedule the QUAD summit in the US during PM Modi’s visit. The PM has spoken about multilateral cooperation through the QUAD platform in his recent calls with US President Joe Biden and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.
Big preparations are on for PM Modi’s community event on September 22 in New York. The venue will be Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York, a venue known for holding large concerts and having a capacity of 15,000 people. The event has been titled ‘Modi&US’.
The Indo-American Community of USA has announced that over 24,000 Indian Americans have signed up to attend the community gathering.
Registrations for the event have come through 590 community organisations, all of whom signed up as Welcome Partners, from across the United States.
Indian Americans from at least 42 states are expected to attend, the response has been particularly strong from the tri-state area.
‘Modi&US’ promises to be a significant gathering celebrating the interconnected diversity of the Indian American community.
Attendees and participating organisations will include a wide range of religious communities, including members of the Jewish, Zoroastrian, Jain, Christian, Sikh, Muslim, and Hindu communities. They also represent a significant cross section of India’s diverse languages, incluing Hindi, Telugu, Punjabi, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Gujarati, and others.
In addition to remarks by Prime Minister Modi, the event will showcase cultural performances and appearances by prominent Indian Americans in business, science, entertainment, and the arts.
