Formula E is fast catching the whims and fancies of motorsports enthusiasts across the globe. So far 2018 is looking like the year for India in Formula E. Mahindra Racing, the Indian team owned by the Mahindra Group had a great start to the year with their victory at the 2018 Marrakesh ePrix in January. Mahindra started their Formula E journey in 2014 and secured the eighth position in that year’s competition. Since then, Mahindra have not looked back as they took fifth place in 2015-16 and became third in 2016-17. Felix Rosenqvist, driver of the currently No. 1 team, is leading the chart at the moment.
So what is a Fanboost? Formula E is the only event in the world that lets fans play an active role in influencing the outcome of the race on social media platforms. Fanboost gives fans the opportunity to vote for their favourite driver and award them an extra boost of power during the race.
How does it work? The three drivers with the most Fanboost votes are awarded a significant burst of power which they can deploy in a five second window during the second half of the race. One can vote to Fanboost their favourite driver in the six days prior to, and leading up to six minutes into, each race. Fanboost gives audiences the power to give their elected driver an edge over other drivers. The whole point of Fanboost is to not let the audience feel like they are mere spectators.
