GIMS 2017: Tata Motors Unveils TAMO Racemo, Expected India Launch in 2018
The TAMO Racemo can go from 0-100 km/h in six seconds and comes powered by Tata Motor's Revotron engine.

Tata Motors have unveiled Racemo sports coupe at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show as the first product under the company’s TAMO sub-brand.

Designed at the Tata Motors Design Studio in Turin, Italy, Racemo is a two-seater sports concept that claims to have a 0-100 km/h in just six seconds. In order to achieve such a feat, Tata has fitted the car with a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine which delivers 190 PS of power and 210 Nm of torque and comes mated to a 6-speed AMT transmission with paddle shift. Interestingly, the engine is made of aluminium which would help in keeping the weight of the unit low and comes in a mid-mounted engine, which will help in keeping the centre of gravity low.

There will also be a Racemo+ offering which will be a faster, track version of the Racemo.

Speaking at the unveil, Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD, Tata Motors said, “We launched our sub-brand TAMO as our answer to new technologies, business models and partnerships. Racemo is the first innovation from TAMO, and our emotional, unexpected leap to the future. Symbolising the change that is taking place at Tata Motors, Racemo is the proving ground of the TAMO family of vehicles and will drive the future of India’s connected generation."

Racemo is built on the MOFlex Multi-Material Sandwich (MMS) structure – a structural technology, which will enable greater freedom in surface design, efficient large-scale part integration leading to modularity and faster time to market.

The company also showcased the Tigor and Nexon concepts at the Geneva Motor Show and is expected to launch RaceMo in India by early 2018.
