New Delhi: Formula 1 ace Lewis Hamilton triggered his successful challenge for the 2008 world championship with a dominant victory in the Australian Grand Prix last March.

Twelve months on, returning to Melbourne as the reigning champion, he knows it will take a minor miracle just to finish on the podium.

Lewis Hamilton is training hard for an encore on the race track this year.

"The preparation starts from the beginning of the year. It is how you build yourself up. I know where I am right now. When I arrive at the field, I judge and tell myself that I am up against these boys and I know that I can do a great job," the reigning champion said.

Though initial testing has revealed his new McLaren MP4-24 has some serious aerodynamic shortcomings that left it at the bottom of the time sheets at the testing sessions, Lewis is confident his fitness regime would make him a favourite.
