To offer extra reliability and improved driving experience, the leading car manufacturer Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL) is gearing up to introduce a new global platform. It is expected to be used in small and medium car portfolios.
It has been reported that the upcoming platform will be used globally, making India the production base in future. Some reports suggested that the company has already begun working on the same, investing efforts to make the platform suitable for both ICE models and EVs.
All About Upcoming Platform
The upcoming platform, which is currently codenamed PF2 internally, is likely to be used for EVs, sedans, SUVs, and hybrids. However, a concreted confirmation about the same is yet to be announced by the brand.
With the experiment, the brand aims to attract new customers and boost sales figures in India, which is somehow witnessing a dip in the Indian market. Currently, Honda has only City, Amaze and Elevate on offer. Again! these models are reportedly in giving satisfactory sales figure as expected.
Sales Figures
The sedan has witnessed a downfall in sales, managed to sell less than 1,000 units per month, while the compact SUV Elevate, which took the market by storm at the start, slowed down after a few months. It has achieved average monthly sales of around 4,500 units in the first five months. However, the export business has boomed somehow as it sold as WR-V overseas.
