Jeep is all set to launch its much-anticipated entry level SUV Jeep Compass in India on 31st July. The company has already started accepting bookings for the new Compass at RS 50,000. The SUV will be available in three variants - Sports, Longitude and Limited. In India, Jeep will provide two engine options for the new Compass – a 1.4 litre 4-cylinder Multiar petrol engine that produces 160 bhp with peak torque of 250 Nm and 2.0 litre diesel engine that produces 173 bhp and 230 Nm torque. The engine will be paired with a 6- speed manual transmission and an optional 7-speed automatic gearbox version will be there for the petrol variant.
Inside the cabin, the new Jeep Compass will get a 7.0-inch Uconnect infotainment system, six-airbags, electronic stability control along with dynamic steering torque.
The car will be manufactured locally at company’s plant near Pune and will be available in 5 colour options - Minimal Grey, Exotica Red, Hydro Blue, Vocal White and Hip Hop Black. The customer will also have the choice of selecting a 4x2 or 4x4 wheel drive.
The car is expected to be priced between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom. In this segment, the car will compete the likes of Skoda Yeti.
