New Delhi: The Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language-based Hyundai Creta has been officially unveiled in India. The car has been spotted on various occassions testing in and around Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur plant. The Hyundai Creta SUV is based on the ix25 which is already sold in the Chinese market . The name Creta will not be specific for the Indian market and instead will be used globally everywhere expect for China.

The new Hyundai Creta borrows the family design that Hyundai has for its new-age SUVs. In fact it looks like a smaller version of the Tucson but has more square edges. The SUV is not a sub-4 metre version and is 4,270mm long, 1,780mm wide and 1,630mm tall.

Hyundai has added a three slat grille, projector headlamps, LED DRLs and vertical fog lamps. The ORVMs come with the integrated turn indicators while the alloys are 17-inchers. The rear though looks bland yet balanced with those lamps extending all the way to the boot opening.

Inside the car, like a typical Hyundai, there are many creature comforts including cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, rear AC vents, push button start and a reverse camera with parking sensors.

However, these features are expected to be there only in the top variants. The base trim gets halogen headlamps, matte black grille as well as body-coloured A-pillar and door handles but no roof rails and fog lamps

As for the variants, Hyundai will offer the Creta SUV with a choice of 1.4-litre diesel and a pair of 1.6-litre petrol and diesel motors. All the engine options have been borrowed from the 4S Fluidic Verna and in the exact same power configuration.

The base 1.4 diesel makes 90PS of power and 220Nm of torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The 1.6 petrol makes 123PS/154Nm and a 6-speed manual while the 1.6 diesel has an output of 128PS/260Nm and is available with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
