It has been reported that the allocation of funds will speed up the pending tasks, and will contribute a big hand for the ongoing construction of rail projects.

In a revolutionized move to boost local transportation and implementation of the metro rail projects in Kozhikode and Thiruvananthapuram, the state government has allocated funds of Rs 239 crore. The development took place at the time when the state was presenting its yearly budget for 2024-25.

It has been reported that the allocation of funds will speed up the pending tasks, and will contribute a big hand for the ongoing construction of rail projects. These funds will also benefit the ongoing construction of Kochi Metro’s Phase II line as well, which will connect JLN stadium to Kakkanad.

Amid this, the construction of the Phase III line from Aluva to Nedumbassery also will be impacted by the allocated money, and will help it to ramp up the work.

While confirming the news, Finance Minister K N Balagopal informed that concerned authorities are expecting the green signal from the state government for the Thiruvananthapuram Metro Rail project soon. He also shared that the government might treat commuters with the K-Rail project as the management is in talks with the Centre.

Meanwhile, KMRL has a plan to complete the Metro Phase II line by the start of next year. Without making further delay, General consulting has been assigned to a group consisting of Systra and Systra MVA Consulting India Pvt Ltd, while detailed design consultation has been given to Egis India.
