Piaggio has launched the Vespa S in India. The scooter is priced at Rs 75,500 (ex-showroom), although the manufacturer have not officially announced anything.
The premium Vespa is now the costliest scooter in the country and was showcased at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2014.
Bookings for this scooter started two weeks ago and dealers are saying that deliveries will also happen soon.
The Italian company currently has two other scooters apart from the Vespa S - Vespa and Vespa VX.
The Vespa S is powered by a familiar powertrain borrowed from the other two scooters. Its 3-valve 125cc engine produces 10.06PS and 10.6Nm of power and torque respectively. This engine is mated to a CVT transmission.
The company claims a fuel efficiency of over 60kmpl.
The Vespa S is made of a steel body monocoque and uses a telescopic front suspension and dual effect shockers at the rear. It also gets the VX's front disc brake and a rear drum.
