Going up: IIM-Lucknow to hike fees
IIM-L on Monday announced it will soon hike the fees for its two-year PG course.

Lucknow: One of the top B-schools in the country, Indian Institute of Management-Lucknow (IIM-L) on Monday announced that it will soon hike the fees for its two-year postgraduate programme.

"We have our financial requirements and to justify it we hope to increase the fee," institute director Devi Singh told reporters.

According to institute officials, the fee hike would be discussed by the board of governors, who are expected to meet in the third week of March.

At present, IIM-L charges Rs 5 lakh for the two-year programme and that is comparatively lower than the other IIMs in Kolkata, Bangalore and Ahmedabad.

While the fee at IIM-Calcullta and Bangalore is Rs 9 lakh IIM Ahmedabad charges Rs 11 lakh for the two-year programme.

Singh said that the IIM-L would also shortly appoint as many as 10 faculty members.

Expressing concern over the meltdown affecting placements of students, Singh said, "This should be a lesson for all of us. We should sit together and strategise ways to counter the meltdown."

Singh said that 72 companies came to the institute for 267 students eligible for placements.
