Sriram, Kannan appointed SBI Managing Directors

Mumbai: State Bank of India (SBI) on Thursday said it has appointed B Sriram and VG Kannan as Managing Directors and Group executives.

The duo will be coming to SBI from Group associates, where they held senior positions.

Sriram, previously Managing Director of State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur, will be handling international banking, while Kannan, who was MD and CEO, SBI Capital Markets, will be looking after associates and subsidiaries division of the

country's top lender, a bank release said.

The posts were lying vacant after Hemant Contractor, Managing Director (international banking), and S Vishvanathan, Managing Director (associates and subsidiaries), retired in April.

Sriram joined the Government-run bank in 1981 as a Probationary Officer. During over three-decade-long career, he held several positions and also had a stint at the SBI's Singapore office.

Kannan joined the bank as a Probationary Officer in 1978. He has held many important assignments in the bank as dealer, overseas branch, Chennai; manager (money and forex), Hong Kong and head of forex treasury at corporate centre,
