Integrated School Education, in Tamil Nadu’s Namakkal, organised an art and culture festival competition with a focus on five significant themes. The primary goal was to nurture creativity in students of Classes 9 to 12 while simultaneously upholding our traditional arts.
The district-level arts and cultural festival competitions included a drawing segment that garnered the attention of students. Students were enthralled as they sketched pictures, almost as if they were witnessing a live competition unfold before them. Integrated School Education hosted an arts and culture festival competition including five central themes: music, instrumental music, dance, drama, and painting.
Several students from Namakkal and neighbouring regions joined the competition, showcasing their exceptional skills. The highlight of the event was the remarkable display of various paintings from picturesque landscapes and Madurai Meenakshi Amman to honey bees, depictions of freedom fighters, Bharatham-inspired art and charming cartoons. The students’ artistic creations left the audience mesmerised, while teachers diligently assessed and scored their impressive artworks.
Last year, in Namakkal district, students exhibited remarkable enthusiasm by participating in the inter-school district-level art festival competition. The Department of School Education announced its intention to conduct taluka, district and state-level programs, all geared towards fostering the artistic talents of students, particularly benefiting those enrolled in government schools.
3D art, or three-dimensional art, is a genre of artistic expression that optimises diverse techniques and tools to craft an illusion of depth, volume and space. Unlike conventional 2D art forms like painting and drawing, 3D art empowers artists to craft immersive and interactive visual encounters that invite exploration from various angles. The origins of 3D street painting can be traced to the 16th century when Italian Renaissance artists pioneered the creation of expansive anamorphic illusions on public surfaces.
In the Namakkal district, the Kalaitruvizha competition was also organised. The competition was held in three distinct categories: one for students in Classes 6 to 8, another for those in Classes 9 and 10, and a third for students in Classes 11 and 12. Additionally, students in the 6th to 8th standard have the opportunity to participate in a competition across six different categories, including fine arts, music, instrumental music, dance, drama and language ability.
