Abhishek Nayar, Ryan Ten Doeschate Set To Join Indian Team As Assistant Coaches - Reports
According to a report in Cricbuzz on Saturday, Nayar and Ten Doeschate have been appointed as assistant coaches, whereas T. Dilip was retained as fielding coach.

Former Indian all-rounder Abhishek Nayar and Netherlands batter Ryan ten Doeschate, who worked with Gautam Gambhir in the IPL 2024 during his stint as mentor of the Kolkata Knight Riders, are set to join the Indian men’s cricket team coaching staff for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. India is scheduled to travel to Sri Lanka next week to take part in a three-match T20I series and a three-match ODI series.

According to a report in Cricbuzz on Saturday, Nayar and ten Doeschate have been appointed as assistant coaches, whereas T. Dilip has been retained as the fielding coach.

It has also been reported that former South African pacer Morne Morkel, who has played in the IPL under Gambhir’s leadership at KKR and worked with him at LSG for two years, is a strong candidate to become the new bowling coach.

Nayar and Dilip are set to travel with the Indian team to Sri Lanka next week for the white-ball series, but there is still no clarity on when and how the former Dutch cricketer will link up with the side. He is currently in the USA as part of the coaching staff of the LA Knight Riders and may join the team directly in Colombo.

Similarly, there is no clarity on Morkel as well, but according to Cricbuzz, BCCI had discussions with him about potentially becoming the Indian team’s bowling coach.

The BCCI is expected to formally announce Gambhir as the head coach of Team India on July 22 and organise a press conference in Mumbai along with new T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav.

The three T20Is between India and Sri Lanka are scheduled to take place in Pallekele on July 27, 28, and 30, whereas R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host the three ODI matches on August 2, 4, and 7.

Rohit Sharma will lead India in the three-match ODI series, and batting superstar Virat Kohli was also included in the 15-member squad. Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya will miss the 50-over matches due to personal reasons, whereas Jasprit Bumrah was rested for the entire tour of Sri Lanka.
