A video of Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Pat Cummins, who turned 31 today, recalling the moments following his Indian Premier League (IPL) triumph with Kolkata Knight Riders has resurfaced on social media. Having played his last season for KKR in 2022, Cummins gave an interview on his tenure last year. In the video, the Australian skipper can be heard talking about the grand celebrations after KKR’s victory in the IPL 2014 final. “I was a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders. We won in, I think it was about 2013, and a couple of days after the final, we went back to Kolkata, went to the stadium just to do a kind of a walking fanfare. And the stadium was packed”, Cummins said.

The video was shared by a fan on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). In the post, the social media user wished Pat Cummins a happy birthday while commending the Aussie on a fantastic career with the Kolkata Knight Riders. “33 appearances. 32 wickets. 8.91 economy rate. 310 runs. 66* highest score. 3 fifties. Speaking further in the video, Cummins talked about how thousands of people had flocked to witness their favourite team. “It was 80k – 90k people just waving at the team and then the streets were lined with a few hundred thousand people just to get a glimpse of the team and it’s just a different world”, he added.
Pat Cummins then joked about how he was not much of a superstar in his household despite lifting one of the biggest prizes in cricket. “And then you know, you go back home and your missus doesn’t even look at you. Like, hang on I had half a million people two days ago”, he said. Cummins played for Kolkata Knight Riders for the major portion of his IPL career. He lifted the IPL trophy in 2014 after the franchise emerged victorious over the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) in the final. Even after his departure, the star pacer remains in close association with his former side.
